Job Summary:

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is a skilled professional responsible for the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of various building systems and equipment within a facility. This individual will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation and functionality of the facility, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems. The Facilities Maintenance Technician conducts routine inspections, diagnoses issues, and performs preventive maintenance to identify and address potential problems before they escalate. In addition to technical expertise, this individual possesses good problem-solving abilities, using a variety of hand and power tools to execute repairs and installations efficiently.

Monday to Friday, 5 AM until 3:30 PM

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manage maintenance supply purchasing (paint, supplies, etc)
  • Manage vendors for waste removal, forklift/Powered Industrial Trucks, floor scrubbers, and other maintenance assets.
  • Develop and keep weekly schedules, set timelines, and meet deadlines.
  • Participate in weekly maintenance update meeting.
  • Inventory Maintenance supplies, equipment, and tools.
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Maintain cGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices) documentation, including standard operating procedures and quality control records to ensure compliance.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks on equipment and machinery to ensure their optimal functioning and longevity.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and troubleshoot issues reported by building occupants or management.
  • Repair or replace faulty equipment, components, or fixtures as needed to restore functionality.
  • Inspect and maintain the building's interior and exterior, including walls, ceilings, floors, doors, and windows.
  • Keep track of maintenance records, work orders, and equipment inventory to ensure organized documentation.
  • Implement and follow all safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for building occupants and employees.
  • Respond to emergency situations promptly and take necessary actions to resolve the issues.
  • Maintain and organize maintenance tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Maintenance team and Manufacturing Sciences and Technology staff to address needs effectively.
  • Adhere to maintenance schedules and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and building codes.
  • Communicate effectively with building occupants and management regarding maintenance updates and work progress.
  • Collaborate with other departments within the company and across multiple sites.
  • Willingness to sometimes travel between sites.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Good technical aptitude and hand-on experience in maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Effective in using hand and power tools for various repair and installation jobs.
  • Good problem-solving abilities and the capability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Understanding of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members, building occupants, and external contractors.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow safety guidelines and protocols meticulously.

Education and Experience:

  • Good mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work with hand and power tools. They should be detail-oriented and able to follow technical instructions.
  • High school diploma or equivalent credential.
  • Post-secondary vocational training or an associate degree in a relevant field, such as industrial maintenance, electrical technology, or HVAC is preferable.
  • Willingness to learn about new equipment and processes.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of being on your feet.
  • Prolonged periods of working both inside and outside of the building.
  • Prolonged periods of manual labor.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
