Job Summary:
The Pharmacy Technician supports the preparation and compounding of sterile medications in a 503A compounding pharmacy. This role ensures compliance with USP <795>, USP <797>, USP <800>, and state pharmacy regulations, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality. This position is trained in controlled and classified area gowning and assists pharmacists in daily operations including compounding, documentation, inventory management, and environmental control activities.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Compound sterile preparations under direct supervision of a pharmacist in adherence to all regulatory requirements, USP <795>, USP <797>, and USP <800> guidance, standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and corporate policies.
- Promotes and demonstrates safe work practices and adheres to PPE requirements.
- Prepare, label, and package medications accurately according to prescription orders.
- Perform hood and equipment cleaning, disinfection, and pre-use checks before compounding activities.
- Conduct equipment setup, calibration verification, and material staging prior to compounding.
- Works with active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), excipients, and chemicals in the compounding of hazardous and non-hazardous pharmaceutical preparations.
- Performs documentation, set-up, cleaning, and maintenance of rooms and equipment.
- Executes all processes as defined in the compounding record, procedures, and work instructions consistent with regulatory guidance.
- Performs inventory receiving of drug products, chemicals and materials.
- Maintains training and qualification in all areas as required.
- Demonstrates ability to recognize and respond to potential deviations from the defined process.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Active registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician or Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) in the State of Ohio.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience in sterile compounding.
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic and chemistry calculations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with dynamic priorities and demands.
- Must have excellent attention to detail.
