Rev1 Ventures

Full-time

Columbus, OH, USA

Posted on Jun 4, 2026

The Director of Marketing will be a hands-on strategist and operator who can translate organizational direction into disciplined, high-quality execution. This role leads Rev1's marketing function end to end, building systems, managing a lean team and contractor network, and connecting marketing activity to real business outcomes. The right candidate has a deep understanding of Rev1's core audiences and key stakeholders (founders, corporate and ecosystem partners, investors, and funders) and knows how to market effectively to each in service of the organization's goals.

Reporting to the Chief Partnerships Officer, this team member will be an excellent communicator and team-builder who can work cross-functionally within Rev1 and across key partners to foster and promote entrepreneur success in the region.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

1) Integrated marketing strategy (bring structure and focus)

  • Build and own the annual marketing plan, including goals, channel mix, and budget allocation tied directly to organizational priorities and growth targets

  • Set priorities across program pipeline, Peninsula membership, events, and partnerships, explicitly deciding what to market and what not to

  • Gather inputs from leadership and business units annually, draft the plan, and present it for CPO review and approval

2) Positioning & messaging (keep Rev1 unmistakable)

  • Deeply understand Rev1's positioning and translate it into consistent, compelling messaging across all programs, events, the Peninsula, and partnerships

  • Set and enforce messaging standards across channels ensuring voice, tone, and narrative are consistent and on brand

  • Ensure all external communications reflect Rev1's positioning clearly and accurately

3) Campaigns, content, and PR (drive action, not noise)

  • Build and run multi-channel campaigns (email, social, PR, partnerships) that drive measurable results across program applications, membership, and partner engagement

  • Own the editorial calendar and deliver high-quality content, newsletters, long-form thought leadership, founder and partner storytelling, consistently and on pillar

  • Manage the PR firm: ensure media outreach, pitching, and thought leadership are strategically briefed and aligned with Rev1's positioning, not just tactically coordinated

4) Performance & optimization (measure what matters)

  • Establish marketing KPIs and a reporting framework; report what's working, what isn't, and what's changing on a monthly cadence

  • Use performance data to improve conversion and engagement across program pipeline, membership, and partner activity

  • Connect marketing activity to business outcomes, not just channel activity

5) Team, vendor, and cross-functional leadership (make it happen)

  • Lead in-house staff and contractors with clear priorities, strong briefs, high standards, and direct feedback

  • Partner with Venture Pathways, Platform, Corporate Partnerships, and R1 Capital teams to deliver cohesive campaigns and experiences

  • Build enablement assets (decks, one-pagers, impact reports, advocacy materials, and case studies) that support program, partner, and funder conversations

  • Keep all materials and the website current and reflective of how Rev1 is organized and what it offers

  • WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • A focused marketing engine with visible priorities, intentional tradeoffs, and consistent execution

  • Marketing demonstrably contributing to program pipeline, Peninsula membership, and partner engagement targets

  • A clear, credible market position that leadership can communicate simply and confidently

  • Monthly reporting that tells the story of what marketing drove

  • PR and agency partners briefed strategically and performing as embedded contributors

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field and 5–8+ years of experience in marketing and communications with demonstrated ownership of strategy, execution, and outcomes.

  • Proven ability to run a marketing function in a lean, resource-constrained environment with a small internal team and external contractor network.

  • Strong content and editorial judgment, knows what good looks like and holds the line on quality across channels.

  • Data-informed mindset that prioritizes outcomes over vanity metrics and can connect marketing activity to pipeline results.

  • Experience managing agencies and external partners strategically — briefing upstream, not just managing timelines.

  • Direct communicator who leads with recommendations, makes hard prioritization calls, and owns outcomes end to end.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and executive-level presentation and communication skills, with the ability to engage across all levels of the organization and with external partners.

  • Entrepreneur-First: you understand and appreciate the challenges founders face. Experience working with or within early-stage companies or venture development organizations is a plus.

  • Experience with tools including Mailchimp, Google Analytics, Asana, LinkedIn, and social scheduling platforms. Comfort with content management systems and analytics tools.

  • Accountability: Rev1 is an outcomes-driven organization. Individual responsibility to identify, track, and report consistently and accurately on specific objectives and results is required.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU

  • Experience and connections into the Columbus region’s entrepreneur and innovation ecosystem.

  • Competitive compensation package comprising a base salary plus performance-based incentive compensation.

  • Collaborative work environment

  • Access to the hottest tech startups and trends

  • Generous paid time off

  • 401(k) matching

  • Health, dental, vision benefits

  • Schedule: Full-time
