Role Overview
As a Lead QA Engineer, you will own the overall quality strategy for reAlpha’s products. This role is responsible for building and scaling automation frameworks, embedding security-first testing practices, and leading and mentoring QA engineers across teams.
This is a hands-on leadership role, balancing technical execution with team guidance and process ownership
Key Responsibilities
Automation Strategy & Framework Ownership
- Architect, build, and own end-to-end test automation frameworks for web, backend, and API layers
- Define automation standards, tooling, and best practices across engineering teams
- Drive high automation coverage and reduce manual regression dependencies
- Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, reliable releases
- Continuously improve framework scalability, stability, and execution speed
Security & Cybersecurity Testing
- Lead security-focused testing initiatives across applications and APIs
- Validate authentication, authorization, access control, and data protection mechanisms
- Identify and test for common vulnerabilities (OWASP Top 10, API security risks)
- Partner with engineering and security stakeholders to support vulnerability scans, penetration testing, and audits
- Ensure quality and security expectations are met for AI-driven and data-intensive features
Quality Engineering & Release Ownership
- Define and own the overall QA and test strategy across the SDLC
- Drive risk-based testing, exploratory testing, and edge-case validation
- Own release readiness, quality sign-off, and post-release verification
- Track defects, analyze root causes, and drive preventive quality improvements
Mentorship & QA Leadership
- Mentor and coach QA engineers, helping them grow in automation, testing depth, and system thinking
- Review test plans, automation code, and test cases, providing constructive feedback
- Establish QA guidelines, documentation, and shared knowledge across teams
- Act as a technical and process leader for QA-related decisions and escalations
- Champion a culture of quality ownership across engineering, not just within QA
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with software engineers, product managers, and designers to ensure testability, quality and security from early design stages
- Participate in architecture, planning, and design reviews to proactively identify quality and security risks
- Communicate quality metrics, risks, and recommendations clearly to stakeholders and leadership
Experience Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in QA / Quality Engineering roles
- Strong hands-on experience building and maintaining automation frameworks
- Solid understanding of application and API security fundamentals
- Experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines
- Ability to read and reason about code (Python, JavaScript, or similar)
- Proven experience mentoring or leading QA engineers
