Role Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and technically curious M&A Operations & Automation Analyst to support and scale our M&A sourcing, research, and pipeline infrastructure. This role sits at the intersection of M&A, data, automation, and tooling and is critical to improving how we originate, track, and evaluate acquisition opportunities.
The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys building systems, automating workflows, and turning fragmented data into structured, actionable intelligence. This role complements traditional M&A research by ensuring the engine behind the deals runs efficiently and intelligently.
Key Responsibilities
M&A Pipeline & CRM Management
- Own and manage the M&A CRM and deal pipeline, ensuring high data quality, consistency, and reliability.
- Design, maintain, and optimize pipeline workflows for sourcing, screening, diligence, and execution.
- Build automations for deal intake, status updates, follow-ups, and reporting.
- Support leadership with real-time pipeline dashboards and analytics.
Origination & Sourcing Automation
- Build and maintain origination automations to identify target companies, founders, and strategic partners.
- Develop and manage AI- or rules-based agents (e.g., LinkedIn connection finders, target discovery tools).
- Continuously improve sourcing efficiency through automation, enrichment, and data integrations.
Research & Reporting Infrastructure
- Create standardized, automated templates for:
- Company profiles
- Industry landscape reports
- Investment memos and research briefs
- Ensure outputs are consistent, scalable, and easy for the M&A team to use and update.
- Collaborate with M&A and strategy teams to translate research needs into repeatable templates and workflows.
Data & Database Management
- Own and manage the M&A database, including integrations with tools such as Grata and other data providers.
- Oversee data ingestion, enrichment, deduplication, and normalization across systems.
- Ensure seamless integration between CRM, research tools, and internal documentation.
- Identify gaps in data coverage and propose solutions to improve completeness and accuracy.
Process Improvement & Special Projects
- Identify inefficiencies across M&A sourcing, research, and pipeline management and propose automation-driven solutions.
- Support special projects such as thematic sourcing initiatives, market scans, and tooling evaluations.
- Work cross-functionally with finance, product, and operations teams to align systems and data needs.
Preferred Experience & Background
- 1–4 years of experience in M&A operations, corporate development, investment research, growth operations, or data/automation-focused roles.
- Hands-on experience managing CRM or pipeline tools (e.g., Airtable, HubSpot, Salesforce, DealCloud, or custom Excel/Notion systems).
- Experience building or managing automations using tools such as Zapier, Make, APIs, scripts, or AI agents.
- Familiarity with M&A data platforms such as Grata, PitchBook, Crunchbase, CapIQ, or similar.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Data, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong systems-thinking mindset—ability to design scalable, repeatable workflows.
- High attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Comfort working with imperfect data and improving it over time.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to translate business needs into technical or automated solutions.
- Clear written communication and strong documentation habits.
- Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and follow-through.
