Position Summary:
AwareAbility Technologies conducts research in gathering, analyzing and interpreting scientific and business data in a variety of disciplines along with the development of hardware/software systems to automate these processes. Positioned with the Ohio Third Frontier (OTF) Key Industry of Advanced Energy and Environmental Technologies, AwareAbility is offering this position through the Rev1 Ventures Internship Program (RVIP). The General Researcher (RVIP Intern) role requires basic technical knowledge, skills or experience (KSE) to support the development of novel machine learning and analytic tools and techniques as applied to nuclear power technologies, a key OTF technology area. The desired disciplines include computer engineering, computer science, data analytics/data science, and artificial intelligence/machine learning. The General Researcher Intern may work independently on assigned projects or as part of a technical project team and reports to a team leader or engineering director.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop project plans, goals and milestones to guide assigned research
- Conduct day-to-day research activities in one or more assigned technical or project areas
- Write technical reports and create presentations based on assigned work
- Communicate progress, goals and milestones through verbal/written reports to the company
- Complete research and development tasks as assigned in mutually agreed goals and objectives
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Candidate should enjoy working in a small company/entrepreneurial atmosphere
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
- Good oral and written communication skills including ability to present results to supervisor
- Self-motivated and driven to exceed goals, able to work independently with minimal direction
- Working knowledge of computer programming, data analytics or machine learning is desired
- Knowledge or experience in simulation and modeling (sim/mod) is a plus
- Working knowledge of common sim/mod tools such as MATLAB, SolidWorks, MCNP or similar is a plus
- Experience in conducting laboratory research and experimentation is a plus
- Knowledge of radioactive materials, literature, safety and related processes is a plus
- Work experience in any of these or a related area is a plus
Requirements:
- Current 3rd/4th year undergrad or graduate student in a field related to the above
- Registered student at an Ohio college/university or Ohio resident attending an out-of-state institution
