Summary

The Materials Manager is responsible for advancing the development and implementation of all aspects of ATI’s Strategic Purchasing and Vendor Planning Processes, as well as establishing a continuous improvement environment to ensure the successful achievement of financial and operational short-term commitments and long-term objectives. This high value role will provide opportunities for movement within the global Novanta supply chain team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the coordination and standardization of procurement and vendor planning metrics, reporting, procedures and best practices to maximize productivity and throughput while optimizing service, lead time, and inventory.
  • Lead Cost Savings activities for Supply Chain, including but not limited to, negotiations and VAVE.
  • Develop and drive Supplier Management Process
  • Monitor component shortages and partner with the planning team to work on containment, root cause and corrective actions.
  • Provide cross-functional materials and sourcing expertise and leadership across manufacturing, sales, and engineering teams.
  • Direct the analysis of inventories of materials and supplies located in the company.
  • Direct the procurement of new product introductions as it relates to the supply chain. Accomplish team expectations by clearly communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.

Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies

  • Lean Manufacturing experience desired.
  • Process-thinking mindset to drive new processes and value streams.
  • Thorough knowledge of production planning and supply chain management in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated effective negotiation, communication and presentation skills to influence business decisions. Advanced level computer skills with a solid understanding of ERP systems in a manufacturing and

distribution environment.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Procurement or a related field and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in manufacturing environments.
  • Exposure to a global supply base
  • Minimum 2 years in a leadership role.
  • APICS CPIM and/or CSCP preferred.
