Optical Test Engineer – Optical Systems

We are seeking a OpticalTest Engineer to join our team in Stockport, at our laser design and manufacturing site.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and create test equipment for optical systems and sub-systems.

  • Creating and implement test plans.

  • Efficient and accurate data capture.

  • Design tests and equipment to validate customer requirements.

  • Ensure internal and external quality requirements are captured and met.

  • General problem solving.

  • Data analysis, presentation & report writing.

  • Support new products through the NPI process.

  • Conducting and contributing to literature reviews.

Skills and Experience:


As an ideal candidate for the role of Test Engineer, you should have:

  • A degree in Physics / Engineering or related field is advantageous.

  • Experience of working with optical systems, ideally in a hands-on and lab-based environment.

  • Experience of working with hardware & automated systems controls.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Experience of data processing & analysis.

  • Good problem-solving skills.


  • Knowledge of systems engineering (desirable).

  • Programming ability (desirable).

  • Understanding / experience with international and industrial standards (desirable).

  • Low voltage or machinery directive.

  • EMC directive.

  • Electronics exposure (desirable).
