Carbon Market Research Intern
Eisola, Inc.
Eisola’s goal is to accelerate the transition to a sustainable economy by supporting the decarbonization of the built environment. Buildings are a key sector of the economy that need to transition to net-zero carbon emissions in order to meet the 2050 climate goals outlined by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Many industry certifications, such as LEED’s and EPA’s EnergyStar program, exist to help promote the construction of net-zero buildings that reduce the impact of the built environment on climate. However, the metrics produced by these voluntary certifications are not sufficient for financial regulators and financial service providers.
Eisola is building the technology to create information products that will meet the requirements for financial decisionmaking and allow market forces to accelerate the transition to net-zero via incentives such as carbon credits. Thisinternship will see the candidate investigate the existing market structure of carbon credits and in particular the voluntary carbon credit market lead by providers such as Verra and Gold Standard. In this role you will research the voluntary carbon market, learn the roles of various service providers in these markets and distill your findings in written summaries. This role will give you the opportunity to reach out to key industry providers, develop relationships with representatives of these providers and learn about how best to position Eisola’s solution within the market. The successful applicant will have excellent research and interpersonal skills, be savvy and fast thinking, have excellent writing skills and experience distilling and/or summarizing complex information, an interest or experience in the environment and climate change, and ideally some experience performing independent market research and/or journalism/interviewing skills. Experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel are required. Experience with Notion is a plus. Experience with using AI such as ChatGPT to assist in natural language research is a plus.
